Betsy was born in 1850.1   Betsy's father was Anderson Latta and her mother was Elizabeth Alston.  Her paternal grandparents were James Latta and Nancy Hannah Holloway; her maternal grandparents were Philip Alston and Sarah. She had three brothers and a sister, named James G., Phillip, Giles A. and Martha W..  She was the second youngest of the five children.1
