1   Hester's father was Thomas Horne and his mother was Catherine Batchelor.  His paternal grandparents were Henry Horne and Serena Barfield. He had five brothers and two sisters, named John Lindsay, Thomas Wright, Benjamin Alfred, Hardy Nixon, Henry Lewis, Polly and Barbara. He had three half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Moses, Watson, Cornelius, Priscilla and Serena Catherine.1
