1   Alston's father was Lewis Hall and his mother was Nancy Colly.  His paternal grandfather was Lewis Hall. He had ten brothers and five sisters, named Instance, Isaac, James, Jehu, John, Lewis, Thomas, William, Elpheus, Enoch, Piety, Priscilla, Rebecca, Bridgett and Flora.1
