William was born in 1770.  William's father was Frederick Fraley and his mother was Mary Unknown. He had eleven brothers and two sisters, named Frederick, Jacob, George, Henry, James, Elizabeth, Martin, Caleb, Isaac, Benjamin, Daniel, Molly and Jesse.  He was the fourth oldest of the fourteen children.
