John was born in 1666.1   John's father was John Foster and his mother was Mary Chillingsworth.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas Foster and Abigail Wimes; his maternal grandparents were Thomas Chillingsworth and Joanna. He had three brothers and a sister, named Joseph, Chillingsworth, Thomas and Elizabeth.  He was the second oldest of the five children.1
