Alice Mira was born on March 5th, 1857 in Rockford, IL.1 Alice Mira's father was Simeon J. Dewey and her mother was Rebecca Mira Curtis. Her paternal grandparents were Simeon Dewey and Betsey Bigelow Knight; her maternal grandparents were Hosmer Curtis and Eleanor Melick. She had two brothers and two sisters, named Charles Francis, William Curtis, Lizzie and Lillie Jane. She was the third oldest of the five children. She had two half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Simeon John, Lorenzo, Frances Moore and Mira Olive.1 -
