William was born on October 21st, 1841.1   William's father was David S. Breeze and his mother was Elizabeth Spaulding.  His paternal grandparents were John Breeze and Sarah Hollaway; his maternal grandfather was Philip Spaulding. He had four brothers and three sisters, named David H., Thomas S., James M., George W., Mary Elizabeth, Lucinda and Clarinda.  He was the oldest of the eight children.1
