1   Aelfred's father was Eadward The Elder and his mother was Ecguina.  His paternal grandparents were Aelfred The Great and Aelswitha. He had a brother and a sister, named Aethelstan and Eadith. He had four half-brothers and six half-sisters, named Eadmund, Eadred, Ealsward, Eadwin, Ealfleda, Ealgina, Aethelhild, Ecguina, Eadgitha and Eadhild.1
