1 Smith's father was Samuel Hills and his mother was Abigail Wheeler. His paternal grandparents were Joseph Hills and Hannah Smith; his maternal grandparents were David Wheeler and Sarah Wise. He had ten brothers and two sisters, named James, Samuel, Joseph, Nathaniel, Benjamin, Henry, William, Josiah, John, David, Abigail and Hannah.1 -
