Gilbert was born in 1206 in Ewyas, Lacy, Hereford, England.1 Gilbert's father was Walter De Lacy and his mother was Margaret De Braose. His paternal grandparents were Hugh De Lacy and Rose De Lacy; his maternal grandparents were William III De Braose and Matilda De St. Valery. He had a sister named Pernel\Petronelle. He was the younger of the two children. He died at the age of 28 in 1234.1 -
