His paternal grandparents were Henry Cooper and Patience Back. He had six brothers and five sisters, named Jacob Calvin, Riley Davis, John Emerson, Elbert Woods, William Henry, James Shelby, Elizabeth Ann, Sarah Jane, Louisa Ellen, Lydia Margaret and Nancy Patience.1 -
