James was born in 1820 in England.1   James' father was James Allen and his mother was Mary Graham. He had three brothers named Samuel James, Edward and Henry.  He was the oldest of the four children.  He died  due to Broken Back at the age of 29 in 1849 in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania.1
