Robert was born about 1449 in Warley, Halifax, Yorkshire, England. Robert's father was Richard Waterhouse and his mother is Isabel Shaw. His paternal grandparents were Richard Waterhouse and Eliza Claye. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Lawrence, George, Richard, John, Marianne, Emma, Isabella and Elizabeth.
