Gilbert was born about 1145 in Bourne and Clopton, Suffolk, England. Gilbert's father was Hamon Peche and his mother was Alice Peverel. His paternal grandparents are William Peche and Isilia Bourges; his maternal grandparents are Robert Perverel and Adeliza Towmay. He had a brother and a sister, named Geoffrey and Maud. He was the youngest of the three children. He died before July 9th, 1212.-
