Andronikos II was born on March 24th, 1259 in Constantinople, Turkey, Byzantine Empire. Andronikos II's father was Michael VIII Palaiologos and his mother was Theodora Dukaina Batatzaina. His paternal grandfather was Andronikos Dukas Palaiologos and his paternal grandmother is Theodora Palaiologina. He had a sister named Eudoxia. He was the older of the two children.
