Gerberge of was born about 0940. Gerberge of's father was Berengar II Margrave of Italy and her mother was Willa D'Arles. Her paternal grandparents were Adalbert I Margrave De Ivrea and Gisele De Friuli; her maternal grandparents are Boso I Margrave De Tuscany and Willa De Burgundy.
