Ann was born in 1637 in Halifax, Yorkshire, England. Ann's father was William Hunt and her mother was Elizabeth Best. Her paternal grandparents were Robert Hunt and Jaine Fysher; her maternal grandfather is John Best. She had four brothers and three sisters, named Nehemiah, Samuel, William, Issac, Elizabeth, Susanna and Hannah. She was the fourth youngest of the eight children.
