Robert was born in 1177 in Holderness, Yorkshire, England. Robert's father was Everard De Roos and his mother was Rose Trusbut. His paternal grandfather was Robert De Roos and his paternal grandmother is Sibyl De La Loines; his maternal grandparents are William De Trusbut and Aubreye De Harcourt. He was an only child.
