Henry was born about 1161 in Alnwick, Northumberland, England. Henry's father was Joscelyn De Louvain Brabant and his mother was Agnes De Percy. His paternal grandparents were Godfrey I De Namur De Lorraine and Clementia De Namur De Chiny; his maternal grandfather was William De Percy and his maternal grandmother is Adelize De Clare. He had two brothers and four sisters, named Ralph, Richard, Eleanor, Alice, Jocelin and Maud. He was the fourth oldest of the seven children. He died before September 29th, 1198 in Petworth, England.
