Hildouin was born about 0940 in Ponthieu, Somme, Picardy, France.  Hildouin's father was Hildouin De Ponthieu and his mother is Hersende De Montreuil. He had a brother and a sister, named Hugh and Gordeschilda.  He is the second oldest of the three children.
