Robert was born about 1492.  Robert's father was John Cooper and his mother was Mary Challenger.  His paternal grandfather was John Cowper and his paternal grandmother is Joan Stanbridge. He had three brothers and a sister, named Michael, John, William and Jane.  He is the third oldest of the five children.
