John of Shirland was born in 1214 in of Shirland, Derbyshire. John of Shirland's father was Henry de Grey Baron Grey of Codnor and his mother was Isolda de Bardolf. His paternal grandfather is Richard de Grey; his maternal grandfather is Robert of Condor de Bardolf. He was an only child. He died about March 18th, 1266.General Notes
