Nellie Pope was born on June 17th, 1858 in Waldoboro, Maine. Nellie Pope's father was Dan S. Tucker and her mother was Mercy Sears Howes. Her paternal grandparents were Ezra Tucker and Judith Burbank. She had three brothers and five sisters, named Frank M., Fred M., Walter, Susan R., Hattie H., Clara M., Cora Mercy and Addie French. She is the third oldest of the nine children. She had two half-sisters named Sarah and Lizzie.-
