Matilda E. was born on May 9th, 1841 in Fulford, PQ. Matilda E.'s father was Enoch Jefferson Sargent and her mother was Rebecca Bell. Her paternal grandparents were Benjamin Sargent and Sarah Fordyce. She had four brothers and four sisters, named John Benjamin, Horatio Wellington, George A., Enoch Nelson, Julia A., Sarah A., Agnes M. and Patience. She is the third youngest of the nine children.-
