Jonathan B. was born on January 3rd, 1812 in Orange, Orange County, Vermont. Jonathan B.'s father was Philip Sargent and his mother was Clarissa Bosworth. His paternal grandparents were Ebenezer Sargent and Esther Quimby. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Eban, David, Eliphalet Mason, Denison, Fanny, Sophia and Mehitable B..
