Howard Merton Sargent 
Howard Merton was born on July 24th, 1853 in Gilmantown, New Hampshire. Howard Merton's father was Roger Moses Sargent and his mother was Elizabeth G. Spalding. His paternal grandparents were Stephen Sargent and Francis Noyes. He had four brothers and two sisters, named Roger Moses, Clarence Spaulding, Edwin Charlton, Roger Moses, Mary Ann and Fanny Elizabeth. He was the third oldest of the seven children.
