Ada Opal was born on September 15th, 1875 in Hutton Twp, Coles, IL. Ada Opal's father was John Stephen Sargent and her mother was Maria Anna Turner. Her paternal grandparents were Stephen Sargent and Nancy Rose Chenoweth. She had five brothers and three sisters, named Ernest, Paul Turner, Infant, St. John, Samuel Stephen, Margaret Pearl, Jessie Ruby and Coral T.. She was the fourth oldest of the nine children. She died at the age of 82 on September 18th, 1957 in Charleston Twp, Coles, IL.General Notes
"Opal was the only musician of her siblings. She played the piano and gave lessons to girls around Coles County. She rode horseback to Westfield to give a 25 cent lesson and rode five or more miles away to give other lessons." See sources.
