Herbert Elsworth was born on April 18th, 1863 in Bristol, Vermont. Herbert Elsworth's father was David Hodgman and his mother was Susan A. Coates. His paternal grandparents were Benjamin Hodgman and Betsey Eleanor Colby; his maternal grandfather is David Coates and his maternal grandmother was Mary A. Colby. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Bertie, Ervin, Archie, Mandana Mary and Blanche. He was the oldest of the six children. He died at the age of 63 on July 18th, 1926 in Sand Hill, Quebec, Canada.-
