His paternal grandparents were Hiram Emerson and Maria Chase. He had a brother named Ray H.. He was the older of the two children. He died at the age of 77 on August 29th, 1942 in Morenci, Lenawee County, Michigan. He was buried in Oak Grove Cemetery, Morenci, Lenawee County Michigan.-
