Sargent was born on June 16th, 1800 in Bow, Merrimac County, New Hampshire. Sargent's father was Samuel Colby and his mother is Sarah Partridge. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Colby and Susannah Colby. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Symmes Sawyer, Thomas B., Samuel, Mary and Mary Partridge. He was the second oldest of the six children. He died before May 25th, 1880 in Dunbarton, New Hampshire. He was buried on May 25th, 1880 in Stark burying gr.General Notes
