Her paternal grandfather is David Coates and her paternal grandmother was Mary A. Colby. She had three brothers and a sister, named Dennis Ellsworth, Arthur, Stewart Chester and Laura Blanche. She was the second youngest of the five children. She died at the age of 84 on April 25th, 1966 in Sherbrook, Quebec, Canada.-
