Mary Ellen was born on January 15th, 1855 in Lawrence, McHenry County, Illinois. Mary Ellen's father was Edward Augustus Anderson and his/her mother was Florence H. Olcott. His/her maternal grandparents were Carlos Olcott and Malvina Amanda Kimball. He/she had six brothers and a sister, named Carl, Roy, Frank, Ray, Dorr, Edward and Melvina.
