Velda Fern was born in 1925. Velda Fern's father is Ruben Estey Davis and her mother is Mabel J Sligar. Her paternal grandparents were Everett Clarke Davis and Celia Clementine Blaylock; her maternal grandparents were David W. Sligar and Mary H. Sligar. She had three brothers and six sisters, named Frank Olin, David Clarke, Wilber Estley, Mary Mildred, Edith Pearl, Ruby Florence, Irene, Ruth and Irma. She is the second youngest of the ten children.
