Dietrich was born about 0929.  Dietrich's father was Eberhard Teisterbant and his mother was Amalrada.  His paternal grandfather was Eberhard Keldachgau-Bonngau; his maternal grandparents were Theoderich and Reginlind. He had three brothers named FNU, Berengar and Unruoch.
