Faris (S214) makes an ambiguous statement which is quoted here:
"Joan Troutbeck, was born 1459. She married for the first time
to William Boteler, Knt., son of John Boteler, Knt. She was
married for the second time to William Griffith, Knt., of
Penryhn, co. Caernarvon, Chamberlain of North Wales, son of
William Fychan ap Gwilym, by Alice, daughter of Richard Dalton,
Knt., of Althorp, co. Northhampton. They had one son and three
daughters. She died 1458/9. He married for the second time to
Elsbeth Grey, daughter of Robert Grey, of Rhulhun, and had
issue." As this is written, it would seems that Joan (Troutbeck)
(Boteler) Griffith (I631) and William Griffith (I634) had one son
and three daughters and that William Griffith (I631) later
married Elsbeth Grey. However, that would mean that Joan
(Troutbeck) (Boteler) Griffith was born and died the same year
(impossible). This quote, though genealogicaly valuable, is
considered too unclear to enter into the database as such. The
information will be entered as a NOTE only.
