Margaret was born in Innerpeffrey, Creiff, Perthshire, Scotland. Margaret's father was John Drummond and her mother was Elizabeth Lindsay. Her paternal grandparents were Sir Malcolm Drummond of Stobhall and Marion Murray; her maternal grandparents were Alexander "The Tiger" Lindsay and Margaret Dunbar. She had four sisters named Eupheme, Anabella, Elizabeth and Sibilla. She died in Drummond Castle, Muthill, Perth, Scotland. She was buried in Dunblane Cathedral, Perthshire, Scotland.General Notes
A mistress of James IV of Scotland.
Margaret Drummond, true love of King James IV (some say they were secretly married), was poisoned while at Drummond Castle. She and two of her sisters (Euphemia and Sibilla) died. Margaret, it was said, stood in the way of Jame's marriage to Margaret Tudor of England, which is probably what prompted her poisoning. The three sisters were buried at Dunblane Cathedral where brass plaques in their memory were set in the floor of the choir.
