William Crichton 
William was born in Crichton Castle, Pathead, East Lothian, Scotland. William's father was James Crichton and his mother was Janet Dunbar. His paternal grandparents were William Crichton and Agnes; his maternal grandparents were James Dunbar and Catherine (Janet) Gordon Seton. He was an only child. He died before October 23rd, 1493 in Inverness, Scotland.General Notes
William, third Lord Crichton, had an affair with Margaret, the sister of James III, and as a result they had a child. After this he was implicated in a conspiracy against the king involving James’ younger brother, Alexander, Duke of Albany. In 1485 he was forced to forfeit all he owned and all his titles.
