Margaret was born about 1437 in Dumfriesshire, Scotland. Margaret's father was Robert Crichton and her mother was Elizabeth Erskine. Her paternal grandparents were Robert Crichton and Elizabeth Erskine; her maternal grandfather was William Erskine.
