Martha Ann was born about 1836. Martha Ann's father was Jacob Carpenter and her mother was Emily LNU. Her paternal grandparents were William Carpenter and Martha Margaret McConnell. She had three brothers and a sister, named David, William, Western D. and Sarah E.. She was the oldest of the five children.-
