Elen was born about 1250 in Wales. Elen's father is Philip Sais ap Madog and her mother is verch Ieaun. Her paternal grandfather is Madog ap Seisyll; her maternal grandparents are Ieaun ap Rhys and Gwladus verch Gruffudd. She is an only child.
They had a son named Ieuan.
