Gruffydd was born about 1011 in Rhuddlan, Flintshire, Wales.  Gruffydd's father was Prince Llewelyn ap Seisyllt and his mother is Queen Angharad verch Maredydd.  His paternal grandparents are Seisyll ap Ednywain and Prawst verch Elise; his maternal grandfather was Prince Maredudd ap Owain and his maternal grandmother is verch Llandilo. He had a sister named Thurfrida. He had two half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Bleddyn, Rhiwallon, Angharad and Iwerydd.  He died on August 5th, 1063.


Gruffydd's family with Ealdgyth

‌Gruffydd and Ealdgyth were married in a religious ceremony in 1057.  They had a daughter named Nest.
