Kurigalzu's father was King Burnaburiash II of Babylon and his mother is Muballitat-Sherua of Assyria. His paternal grandfather was King Kadashman-Enlil I of Babylon; his maternal grandfather was King Iriba-Adad I of Assyria and his maternal grandmother is Princess of the Mitanni.
