Earl Walter Comyn of Menteith 
Walter was born about 1190 in Buchan, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Walter's father was Earl William Comyn of Buchan and his mother was Sarah fitzHugh. His paternal grandparents are Lord Richard Comyn of Tynedale and Heiress Hextilda FitzHuchtred of Tynedale; his maternal grandfather was Robert fitzHugh. He had a brother named Richard. He was the older of the two children. He had a half-brother and two half-sisters, named Alexander, Jean and Elizabeth. He died in November 1258.General Notes

Walter became Earl of Menteith through his wife. He is probably the same Walter, Earl of Menteith who founded Inchmaholme Priory in 1238, and he may well be buried there.
