Nellie was born in 1760 in Cherokee Nation East.1 Nellie's father was Richard Pearis and her mother was Pratchey Moytoy. Her paternal grandfather was George Pearis and her paternal grandmother is Sarah Pharis; her maternal grandparents were Cornelius Dougherty and Ah Nee Wa Kee Moytoy. She had a brother and a sister, named George and Kate. She had two half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Richard, David, Margaret Elizabeth and Sarah.-
