Mourning was born in 1745 in Edgecombe, NC, USA.1 Mourning's father was Nathaniel Hickman and her mother was Sarah Strickland. Her paternal grandparents were William Hickman and Mary Williams. She had a brother and four sisters, named Nathaniel, Elizabeth, Sarah, Mary and Christian. She was the youngest of the six children. She died at the age of 59 in 1804 in Edgecombe, NC, USA.1 -
