Bernard I of Saxony was born about 0976.  Bernard I of Saxony's father was Hermann of Saxony Billung and his mother is Hildegarde of Saxony of Westerbourg. He had a sister named Matilda (Mathilda) of Saxony.  He was the younger of the two children. He had two half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Liutger, Bernard, Matilde and Suanehilde.  He died on February 9th, 1011 in Corvey.
