Lydia was born on February 4th, 1828 in Sheffield, Yorkshire, England.  Lydia's father was Abel ROPER and her mother was Sarah MOSLEY OR MOSELEY.  Her paternal grandparents were Joshua ROPER and Dorothy FROST; her maternal grandparents are James MOSLEY and Mary COSINS (COUSINS). She had four brothers and three sisters, named William, Joshua, Henry, Edwin, Hannah, Mary and Sarah Grace.  She was the fourth youngest of the eight children.  She died at the age of 87 on March 2nd, 1915 in East Mill Creek, (near Salt Lake City), Salt Lake, Ut.  She was buried on March 5th, 1915 in City Cemetery, Salt Lake City.

‌Lydia and John were married in a religious ceremony on October 13th, 1846 in Sheffield, Yorkshire, England.1   They had five sons and six daughters, named John Henry, Abel Roper, Thomas, Joseph, Irvin Kitson, Sarah Ann, Emma, Priscilla Miranda, Hannah, Lydia and Selina.
