Martha was born in July 1667 in Wethersfield, Hartford Co., Conn.. Martha's father was Nathaniel Graves and her mother was Martha Betts. Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Graves and UNKNOWN Sarah; her maternal grandparents were John Betts and Mary Bigge. She had a brother and four sisters, named Nathaniel, Sarah, Mary, Rebecca and Abigail. She was the second youngest of the six children.
