Hodne was born about 0704 in of, Trondheim, Sor Trondelag, Norway. Hodne's father was Eystein "Haardaade" Throndsson and his mother is Solveig Halfdansdatter. He has two brothers and a sister, named Hogne, Frode and Asa. He is the second youngest of the four children.
