in the neighborhood Ceulhorst on the Hoogland near Amersfoort, owned by t
he family De Wijs who were holding it for the feudal Landlord of Montfoor
t.  May be identical with Gerrit Jansz Couwenhoven who is mentioned in 15
64 as tenant of the land of the family van Vanelveld.

te in Schoonhoven, which he sold in 1578 andremoved to an estate and sma

ter road in theProvince of Utrecht, where Wolfertsz was born; served as sc
hepen(councilman) of Schoonhoven and burgomaster (mayor) of St.Martin's E
ve nearby in 20 of 34 years before 1575, starting in1541, and as elect
or of magistrates 1575-1578; converted fromCatholicism 1572.
